Reflection #2

First of all, LSC 1103 course developed my writing skills like 85%m I never thought that in the end of this semester I will be able to write a report. Finally I made it and now I can write reports, will as they say good report will give you a good job.

When I will work I need to write reports and if I didn’t take this course I will not be able to get a good work. To write a good report is important because this is the way to success in your work. All I need to do to improve my writing skills now is to write more reports and write some high level reports. I enjoyed 1103 course because we have a good teacher, and the teacher is always look after us, all thanks goes back to him. At the start course I was thinking this subject is so boring and hard, but after I learnt how to write I really enjoyed it and I hope I take some more subject similar to 1103 with the same teacher.

In conclusion, it’s not bad to learn how to write, but what I really wanted is to write a report with high skills, I might write but when? Maybe in future, I need to be prepared to write reports.

How Stuff Works

Introduction:
The system of how stuff moves or the material economy needs to go through 5 steps. Also how people throw the things out all over without sharing with other people, and how it affects the wild life. This paper will describe the five steps of the material economy as mentioned following the story of stuff(2007)

Extraction:
The first step which is extraction is an act of extracting something. This is how they get oil from things. It’s like getting juice from fruit. The bones that animals left and the things that people use and throw, they extract them and get out the benefits from it. Extraction can produce poisonous gas and it’s dangerous, it harms our future generation because the women breathe that gas and feeds her child. The article shows ‘’we’re using too much stuff, the processes by which we extract all that stuff cause more damage and we’re not sharing the stuff equitably’’(The Story of Stuff Project.2007).

Production:
The second step of this process is called production, production is to create or made something from natural resources. In this step the materials and the resources go in production and supply them with toxic chemicals. Then it produces a lot of things that carry toxins. The consumer buy it without knowing what they made it of or mixed with?. The products go to schools, jobs and maybe it get into bodies. Toxic enter the body by the food and it gets to women bodies and hurt the future generations because of the milk that mothers feed their children from. Children is the most members of the society that receivers the most poisons. Mothers should take cares of themselves to transfer less percentage of the chemical toxins. That starts from the government they should protect us and bring healthy productions.
Distribution:
The third step is Distribution, which means selling as much as they can of the production that carries toxic chemicals. The article shows ‘’ Distribution is the process of making a product or service available for use or consumption’’(Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.2013). The companies who produce put low and cheap prices on their equipment or items .That all means the customers do not pay the real price of the productions. Spend a lot of natural resources to produce and distribute, which mean increase the diseases of asthma and cancer. They produce and distribute all around the city and share more diseases and the consumers get damaged. The people who works in this system in poor people they moved from outside to inside country to live and make some money they have no other option.

Consumption:
The fourth step is use or consumption, which means only buy things and waste money. A lot of consumers buy things and throw them away, as much as they produce of new models, the consumers hurry to buy the new one and throw out the old one. Low percentage of people who keep things they buy and very rare that people share things with others. The meaning of all this is people who don’t buy they don’t have a value. An example of consumption is consumers care about fashion, what the thing that let the consumers care about fashions is the fake advertising. The article shows ‘’we need to step beyond our role as consumers and reclaim our identity as engaged citizens in a democracy’’.(The Story of Stuff Project.2007).

Disposal:
The fifth step is disposal, which is when you get bored of something and you been used it long time ago just throw away and don’t know where it will go and what will happen to this stuff. The stuff that been thrown and wasted they burn it to get rid of it yah it’s ok but the thing what it produce when you burn it?, a lot of disease and air pollutions which will harm people and the natural life. The article shows ‘’Waste needs to be designed out of the system from the start-through cleaner production’’(The Story of Stuff Project.2007).

Consumerism in UAE:
After the discovery of oil in UAE, UAE became one of the richest countries in the world of oil and gas gallons or barrels. Some of the people have calculated and studied about consumerism in UAE, the studies shows that each person spends 21,576 Dollars in 2010. What government of UAE thinks is to reduce the disposal of stuff. In addition in 2011 about 487,000 barrels of petrol spent per day. Also about water consumerism in UAE which the calculations shows that is they spend 550 liters of water per person every day.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the world natural resources is about to finish, because of the high rating of productions per day. And by ending of some resources would hurt us and hurt the animals, what we need is to share productions with each other and stop disposal stuff so we keep our air clean and healthy.

Hybrid Cars

Hybrid cars have become popular cars in this day and age because of the gas it has high prices those days. Hybrid Cars is a vehicle that gain power from 2 or more sources, the main idea of it is to save the environment from the pollution that cars produce and save oil. Most of the hybrid cars use electricity and hydrogen or petrol and electricity for running. Hybrid Cars is an electrical vehicle, it is intended the presence of electric power generation to achieve either do better fuel economy than a traditional car or better.

These cars are known as hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). In 1839 Robert Anderson of Aberdeen, Scotland built the first electric vehicle. “Hybrids use two motors to make the vehicle run: an internal combustion engine that uses gasoline and an electric motor…” (Introduction to Hybrid Vehicles | J.D. Power. 2012). Hybrid cars invented by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche in 1898 called the System Lohner-Porsche Mixte, the car were driven by electric motors in the wheel hubs. When Porsche was 21 years old he invented the electric wheel-hub motor, a battery-operated motor that actually fit inside the hub of a wheel. The car engine invented in 1862, and the first car was invented in U.S. by Henry Ford in 1885.

Before the development of the hybrid cars you need to change the batteries all the time when it finishes, it been developed by Toyota’s Prius. Toyota’s Prius put a system in the hybrid cars that recharge the batteries while moving. Also you can plug-in the car to recharge, now you have two ways to charge the batteries which is by moving or plugging-in while moving it will charge automatically. After the development the hybrid cars been sold much more than before. Most of the hybrid cars used in towns to stop and go on low speed, but if you drive on high speed the batteries will need to recharged, by using gasoline engine until it recharges.

Now Americans spend more money on gasoline, using diesel and gas is the first thing that will bring global warming. Using hybrid cars is the main idea to cut out the global warming and save oil. Americans think to produce more hybrid cars in the future, which is the new transportation. The most challenge thing today is batteries can save a lot of energy to run the cars, according to Johnny , hybrid cars is the way to solve the country’s fuel crisis. ‘’plug-in’’ hybrid cars added advantage of begin able to be plugged in home electric outlets for recharging low battery cars; these cars increased the percentage of saving fuel.A higher sale in hybrid cars has helped the technological progress, just like that their qualification and the oil prices have also contributed towards a change of the government and consumers. Hybrid cars production has globally enjoyed a healthy growth in recent years. The survey of selling hybrid cars has also slowdown in the global economic. The main idea of inventing hybrid cars is because of gas prices is increasing every year, and save the earth from global warming, ozone lair and air pollution.

Summary #2

Naser Saeed Almansouri CJG-1103

Houbara bustards

In North Africa houbara birds are in danger of extinction because of the continuous hunting. The Abu Dhabi Government has planed a project , which to reproduce houbara birds in 2006. The freedom of houbara birds increased from 12,000 to 15,000 pear season in Morocco between August 2009 to March last year. In breeding season, workers impregnate females. In Morocco they keep chicks in cages and cover them carefully, when it grow up they free them in hunting places. The author described that " Birds that are destined to be used for breeding are trained to be familiar with Humans..."(Todorova, V.2011). The result of keeping chicks in cages that increased the average of surviving percentage to 65%. Scientists monitor birds movements and production. The programmer finally succeeded and the results showed, by increasing nests 10 times.
